Changing Your Auto Door Batteries
Your Automatic Coop Door plays a vital role in keeping your flock safe, but even the hardest workers need a little care now and then! If your door has been acting up, it might be time for a battery check. To keep things running smoothly, we recommend replacing the batteries every six to eight months—or sooner if temperatures take a sharp dive. A quick battery swap can help your coop door stay dependable no matter the season!
3 Signs It’s Time to Swap the Batteries
Delayed or Inconsistent Operation
If your door is opening or closing at odd times or in odd sequences, low batteries could be the cause.
Blinking
A red blinking light signals your door needs new batteries ASAP.
Quick Temperature Drops
Cold weather drains batteries faster—be prepared to swap them more frequently in winter.
How to Replace the Batteries
- Remove the 4 screws securing the black sensor box to the door.
- Swap out the 2 AA batteries with fresh alkaline batteries (avoid rechargeables).
- Secure the sensor box and test your door. (Any settings made before battery swap will need to be reapplied)
